Ivar’s Little Vest is a baby worked in seed stitch with ribbing in sleeves and neck and with one little button on the right shoulder. Seed stitch pattern is very elastic and will expand while baby grows.

Techniques used in this pattern

Cast on, rib, seed stitch, decreases, bind off, 3 needles bind off on one shoulder, buttonhole, pick up stitches, Italian bind off

Ivar’s Little Vest comes in 4 sizes: 4-8 months (8-12 months) 12-18 months (18-24 months)

Gauge

27 stitches x 36 rows in seed stitch on 3.5 mm (US 4) needles = 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”)

Suggested yarn usage

100 (100) 150 (150) grams / [4 (4) 5.5 (5.5) oz] of Hand-dyed Merino (DK) from MumiLumi. Our own hand dyed, super washed Merino (DK) is a very soft and suitable yarn for baby knits. We always recommend hand wash in lukewarm water for hand dyed yarn.
